Lots of games these past few days. =D

Finally level 45 on Forza after several more endurance races. Still need to do the few cups to get a couple of achievements (which my auto driver is doing now). Though it's going to be a while until I hit level 50 I feel.

I rented Project Sylpheed today, and it's quite good. Square Enix usually never fail to disappoint, and their foray into a flight sim has turned out rather well. It has quite an arcade style to it, and is full of pre-rendered story scenes that are full of life and colour. The story is worth listening to, as it does help with the missions in the game. There are 16 main missions in the game, each with primary and secondary objectives - but you're never told the secondary objectives. Each level gives you a rank based on time, kills, objectives etc. Each level can last for 5-25 minutes, though it took me 3hrs 30mins of flying for my first run though (about 6/7 hrs total if you include the cut scenes). About half of the achievements are fairly easy and got by going through the game, though 2 of the story achievements didnt unlock for me as I played it which was wierd. The rest are for doing special activities - completely annihilate 'Squad X', destroy 1000/10000 ships, destroy stuff with a total weight of one gigaton etc. Half of those require more than one run though (I got 81 megatons on my first run through, so that 1000 megaton/1 gigaton achievement would require 12 run throughs). As you play through the game, you get unlocks for your ship, and you have to do more difficult tasks and so forth. I enjoyed it, until my second run through, where in order to get higher ranks on some of the levels I died several times from annoying little things. The controls are ok, though it's a bit annoying that if you accidentally go into hyperdrive you cant stop and end up hitting something, and often the screen is so full of colours you cant tell which are the enemy ships, or where your base ship is in order to refuel. Thus, as you try and decipher the map and radar (which sortof help) you end up with either no shield or dead :S Though if you dont really like the current flight sims available (Blazing Angels, Over G Fighters), or love Square Enix or arcady games, then give this game a go.

I tried the Band of Bugs demo. It reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (yeah I didnt get into Advance Wars that much) and looks quite fun-ish. The achievements look ok, with 130 being easily attainable, depending on how long the single player mode is.

I also rented Shadowrun again. I liked it a bit more than last time - mainly because I was able to play a few games with people who weren't retards. By retards I mean the following: people who have to have a running commentary on what they're doing; people who scream and shout down their mic; people who swear non stop; people who are racists and people spouting racial slurs; people who shout 'you got pwned, biatch' after each round; 'people who keep shouting 'revive me!'; people who beat box down their mic; people who play music down their mic... I could think of others, but I'm sure that 66% of XBL games contain at least one of the above. That being said, I got the 5:1 damage to kill ratio achievement, and the fever. I should have got the 10 rounds won in a row achievement (6-0 first round, then 4-0 second, then 4-1, finished 6-1) but it didnt unlock. BOO! I tried going for the 5 gust kills, but I reckon I only got one.

Marble Blast Ultra is a game I like the demo of. Until I gets frustrated by annoying 'air' physics such that movement in the air is almost nil. Bleh.

My *box finally decides to download the Bankshot Billiards demo despite being on auto download for new XBLA demos. It's ok, but in a heartbeat I'd pick WSC2007.

Put in PES6, played a few more games of my D2 League and cup. I'm beginning to wonder why the shortest half length on this game is 5 minutes, and not 2 mins like most other football games. It'll be a while before I reach 1000GS on this game, but I'll get there =D

I've been playing a few more games of Carcassonne, and a couple online. I got the win vs 3 other players online achievement (rather comfortably), and I'm still working my way to that 5000 points achievement. I hope to get 200 GS on this soon. It's a shame no-one on my friends list has it.

I have a love/hate relationship with Blitz: The League. Dont get me wrong, I love the NFL and enjoy the Madden franchise, despite it being made by EA. But the Blitz is riddled with poor camera and poor controls. I hadn't played this in a while, so I went through the tutorials again (quite comfortably). Went back to my campaign game, only to be 21 points down after the first quarter. My defence cant defend, apparently. The menu system for choosing your plays is rather poor, as in the fact that it never remembers your previous play, and as the quarters are rather short there is no messing around in choosing your play. All the default plays (just pressing A) are rather crap. On the field, the defence ends up not defending the Hail Mary, or completely missing with the blitz on a running play. The controller never switches to the person you want, and everytime you select a new person, you have to re-press LT to lock on with a dirty hit. They could have done a lot better with this game. I'll tackle it again when the real NFL starts hiking their balls.

Well, I finally decided to sit down with my rental of Flatout, and go through Carnage mode. All was well for the most part - I started to get silvers and golds, rather than a complete bronze slate. Also ended up with some achievements - Heavy Blast, 100 slams, 1 mill Carnage points, etc. So then I was down to the penultimate Carnage race. Normal race/destruction type, with the goal being 50k points for bronze. 50k?? Thats gold on most other races. So 8 attempts later, my best score is 35k. This is a load of pants. Then I get 45k. Getting better, so then another 8 attempts later, I have 48.5k and 15 seconds left. I can see the car ahead of me, I have full Nitro. I aim full pelt at it, and the car ahead partially crashes into the wall, scraping along the side at 60mph. Easy kill I feel, so I aim for where it should be. In the 50 metres between me and the wall, the other car comes to a complete halt. I mean 60 to 0 in 0.000 seconds. My car never does that unless I hit a tree. So this glitch made me miss, and then if you've ever played this game, you know the reverse gear is shite, so I end up with 48.5k for the race, and almost a busted controller as it gets flung across the room. Destruction Derby got AI and reversing right, why cant these people??

OK, rant over. I also have The Darkness rented out, which I'll hopefully play (and enjoy, by looking at the manual and achievements) tomorrow.

Hi. My name is borandi, and I'm a Forzaholic.

60+ cars and almost level 35 with a near 2 mill in the bank and a few custom paint jobs. Now I'm just having to tie up a few cup races by buying cars especially for them then tuning. For example, in the past 5 mins I bought and upgraded a car for the German C class championship. Thankfully I had an ok car from one of my other cup wins. Most of Forza has been like that so far - I've been able to use cars I already own from winning. Though having ~60 cars and there being 300+ in the game, some of that bank money is going towards the 'owning all cars achievement', especially if some of them cost 300k+! I'll probably wait until I can buy them all, then start with the countries that produce the least, so I'll get those achievements as well.

I started on the arcade mode somewhat too, with 20% (3 races) of normal races and 2 time trial races complete. With the arcade mode, I just picked my best D-class car (in this case a blue 1970's something I'd souped up from career mode for the D-endurance race) and ran with that. As long as I kept hold of the fish-tail RWD back end, I was way in the lead. The time trials will be the hardest for me I think, given that I did one within 5/100's of a second of the required time. Bleh!!

I'm thinking of actually getting Shadowrun this week, or if DiRT is a good rental I might get that. My blood is crying out for another RPG, so bring out Two Worlds =D Though I have been hearing good things about Lord of the Rings Online for PC, so I may invest in that sometime in the near future. The latest Ctrl+Alt+Del news item and comic has been about LOTRO, and they're pretty funny. I want that One Pencil, especially from a moppy-headed rat fucker.

Forza 2 is a great driving game. It's joined TDU as one of my all time favourite car racing games. So far I'm in Career mode, and the ability to get another driver to drive your car for you is a great idea =D I'm only playing it on the easy settings, but to be able to get most of the achievements this way is great, as I generally suck at racing games! I've done about 80% of my races legit, with the others being when I'm going to the bathroom etc. I've done a couple of personal designs, but nothing major to shout about. Well I rented it at 5:30pm, and its 2am now and I'm still playing it - it's that good!

I rented Spiderman 3 again. I thought I'd spoken about it before, but I cant find it in my blog. Well all in all it is a poor game. Too much 'roaming' for missions, not enough linear action. All there is to do outside the main game is little bouts, and nothing on the scale of GTA or Saint's Row. The achievements are somewhat annoying for doing silly things like stopping bank raids or collecting items and so forth. They could have made this game great, like the original Spiderman on the PSX, but they didnt - and I'm giving it a thumbs down.

Fifa 07 is another shoddy release by EA. Why oh why can they not take a leaf out of PES and design something half decent. Fifa 07 is just as shite as UEFA CL. Also, their latest update does not allow you to sim the manager mode for the manager achievement. The controls are sloppy, and even on easy, you get tackled every 10 seconds by six players that come out of nowhere. Any straight line run gets cut down, and any shot on goal held for more than a blink of an eye goes wide. Yet the CPU scores almost every shot.
There is no training mode, like UEFA CL. So if you can't get into the controls, you dont have a flying fig newtons' chance of going anywhere.
EA, stop producing this mass shit, and get some real programming done. Do some f*cking market research and stop relying on the licences to sell games. PES6 blows you out of the water. FACT.

Lego Star Wars II is still a game I'm plugging at. I've just bought the x2 score multiplier while going after some gold bricks, so I'll get the Ben Kenobi ghost soon for some non-death achievements. Still a way to go though, only 43% complete so far.

I ran Uno so it would show up on my http://my360stats.com page. If you haven't got one, it's a great site to monitor your stuff.

Shadowrun was fun when I rented it, but online can be a nightmare if you're on a crappy team who don't know what they're doing. All in all it is an ok game, but without the global stats like on BF:MC I'm sure it'll die quickly and out of view. Dont get me wrong, it's fun for a few hours. But I ended up starting each round getting the same sort of things - resurrect, wired reflexes, then a third optional skill. The gusty ability does seem a bit pants to me. If I get the game, I'll probably get it on PC as I'm better with the mouse and keyboard for this sort of game.

Overall, GS: 32865 -> 32945

Belated Update

I haven't posted in over a week, unfortunately not due to my fault - internet was down a couple of days and I've been tired the rest. So hopefully we'll get back on track with some GS Updates and Achievement whoring!

Well since the last update I've probably played 30-40 games, so I'm not going to update them all. I've been loading up a few to get them registered on http://my360stats.com, you can find me here. I've always kept a spreadsheet of all my acheivements - this website thankfully does it for me and other people, allowing easy game comparison and the oppertunity to see how well I'm doing against the average in each game. If you've a gamertag, go register yourself over there. Every update they take the info from you last 16, non-zero GS, games played. Updates are every 4 days, unless your profile gets viewed, then it's every 24 hours.

Well suffice to say, I've now passed the 30k barrier! =D I've also got 1000+ total achievements, so two large milestones this week. GS: 29985 -> 32865. I havent completed any games in this past week, but I've played a few new ones (both owned and rented), and got some more GS on others:

I've not going into detail about each game this time, mainly because it's 5:55am and I've not been to bed yet, but it has been fun trying out a few new games and rentals. Rayman was fun, R6 was shite. X:Men was good, I'm still figuring out Shadowrun.
